David A. Plymyer is a semi-retired lawyer and part-time writer who lives in Catonsville, Maryland.  His commentary, focusing on issues involving law and local government, has appeared in publications and news sites including the Baltimore Sun, Washington Post, Maryland Daily Record, Annapolis Capital Gazette, Baltimore Brew, Towson Flyer, Maryland Matters and Baltimore Post.

Mr. Plymyer served five years as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Anne Arundel County, Maryland, followed by 31 years in the Anne Arundel County Office of Law.  He retired in 2014 as the Anne Arundel County Attorney.

Mr. Plymyer spent 25 years in the United States Army, the first seven years on active duty in the Regular Army, and last 18 years in the Army Reserve.  He is a graduate of Dickinson College, the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work, and the University of Baltimore School of Law.
